Senor Patron
860 Peachtree Street, Suite H, Atlanta, GA 30308
Transportation: Just two blocks from the Academy of Medicine tech trolley stop, or about four blocks from Tech Square.
Cost: Most items are under ten dollars making it a reasonably priced dinner or lunch out.
Review: This restaurant is a modern take on a classic Mexican restaurant. The décor has a modern feel with classic Mexican painting styles decorating the walls. The music is probably a top forty station, playing popular songs from across the board.
While the feel of the restaurant was a change from what I was expecting, the food stuck to the classics. With simple items such as burritos and enchiladas, any fan of classic Mexican food will be accommodated. The portions where large and the food was very good. The food was quick and the service was excellent. I would recommend Senor Patron to anybody in the mood for some classic Mexican food.

Zocalo
187 10th St NEAtlanta, GA 30309
Transportation: About four blocks from the midtown rail station which can be reached by taking the Tech Trolley
Cost: The prices are definitely one of the more disappointing points, most of the entrees being priced at over 18 dollars. That being said the portions are large enough that you shouldn’t leave hungary.
Review: Zocalo veers from the path of many Mexican restaurants, opting for an atmosphere that reminds me more of a family party than a restaurant. Their salsa was definitely one of the highlights, though not extremely spicy, it was very flavorful, fresh, and obviously homemade. The service was friendly but a bit slow as they seemed to be understaffed for the crowd currently inhabiting the restaurant. The menu was impressive in its variety and the fact that it stayed away from many of the American classic in favor of more interesting dishes which were inspired by classic dishes with interesting twists.
In the middle of midtown, Zocalo is a good place for a night out when you have some extra cash to spend and are looking for some new and interesting food.

Tin Lizzy's
1136 Crescent Ave NE Atlanta, GA 30309
Transportation: Tin Lizzy’s is several blocks from the midtown MARTA station, making it a bit out of the way.
Cost: Most of the entrees will set you back about 10 dollars after you have finished customizing them.
Review: Tin Lizzy’s is a very group oriented venue. The space is very large and open and features plenty of seating for large numbers of people. The menu also lends itself to large groups of people because it is based mainly around dishes which you create yourself, so everybody can get exactly what they want. The base offerings are quite simple featuring tacos, quesadillas, and the like, with a large variety of different kinds of these offerings, but with few other separate dishes. The portions are on the small side compared to many other Mexican restaurants. The food was hot and came out relatively quickly but was not anything special. Tin Lizzy’s is a restraint that you go with a large group to have fun, and not necessarily for the food.
